Your hair must be close to chest length. Use hair extensions if needed.
Carrie's hair stylist actually straightened her hair and recurled it. Because this is time consuming, use this hairdo only when you know that you have a lot of spare time.
1. Your hair needs to be clean: free of grease, dirt, flakes, etc. If your hair was washed more than 24 hours ago, you might want to consider washing it. If you do wash it, shampoo twice (only three times if your hair's really dirty) and condition once. Before washing out your conditioner, take a tooth comb and brush out the tangles. Then, once you've done that, then you can wash out your conditioner.

2. Find a detangling spray and very gently spritz on your hair. Using a tooth comb (preferably not the one you used in the shower), comb out the tangles. You can apply a little bit of smoothing creme on your wet hair if you'd like. Now, blow dry your hair, starting with your bangs, if you have any. Please remember to section evenly and to blow dry your hair as straight as possible. To dry to dry it straight, keep the blow dryer going down on your hair, not upward.

3. Wait 20-30 minutes before straightening your hair. This gives your hair time to cool off. Once 20 or 30 minutes has passed, plug in your flat iron, and let it heat up for 20-30 seconds. During this time, take a paddle brush and brush your hair through. Once your straightener is heated up, flat iron your hair, starting with your bangs, if you have any. Please remember to section evenly and to not burn yourself. I recommend that once you finish a section that you apply a very light coat of hairspray. Notice that I said light.

4. Wait 20-30 more minutes before curling your hair. Again, your hair needs to curl off, which is why you have to wait for this long (hint: walking around your house quickens the process). See why I said that you need a lot of time in order to do this guide? Anyway, once 20 or 30 minutes has passed, plug in the curling iron, and give that 20-30 seconds to heat up. Brush your hair while waiting, if needed. Before curling your hair, keep in mind that your bangs and the upper part of your hair stays straight. It's more of the lower part of your hair that's curled. Looking at the picture helps a lot. So, using a curling iron (preferably one relatively small) make moderate curls at the lower part of your hair and as you get to the roots, start making small waves. Again, looking at the picture helps!

5. Brush your hair if needed. Just remember not to mess up your curls!

6. Apply a light coat of hairpsray, if needed.

7. You're done!
